Caribbean Museum

Barranquilla is the first regional museum in Colombia, an interactive space that disseminates the culture of the region. Its central theme is the Colombian Caribbean in its environmental, historical and socio-cultural dimensions.

The Museum of the Caribbean is a place of sensations. There are no mummies or Simón Bolívar costumes or first editions. It offers the visitor an immersive experience, gives it elements to go beyond contemplation. It exposes information, data, images, portraits and sounds about the immense and enchanting culture of the Caribbean. It is also the first museum in the country specialized in a region. But, above all, it has the quality of the native of the region to make resistance, through imagination and occurrence, to boredom

The scenes of the Museum of the Caribbean were structured with the advice of the Brazilian museographer Marcello Dantas, artist, curator and designer of interactive museums. The recreation of environments is done through multimedia resources The Museum offers a space for the strengthening of identity and the reconstruction of an imaginary of the region.

It presents the cultural manifestations, the historical memory of its inhabitants and motivates a reflection on the environment, the territory and the importance of the latter in the development of the region.

It also emphasizes the dual ownership of the region, both in Colombia and in the Greater Caribbean basin.
