Barranquilla is located on the western margin of the Magdalena River, 15 km from its mouth in the Caribbean Sea. It limits to the north with the Caribbean Sea; to the south with the municipalities of Soledad and Galapa; to the east with the Magdalena River; and to the west with the municipality of Puerto Colombia.
